ABOUT ME

Corrie Thomson is an artist, living and working in Glasgow, practicing predominantly with sculpture and installation. Graduated with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2017 and is one of the five editors of Windfall* Editorial.

Corrie Thomson's practice loosely revolves around the suggestive nature of the sculptural object. Her work is heavily informed by architecture, furniture, the design and engineering of everyday objects and the patterns and forms that emerge through the close investigation of these processes. Thomson likes to question how things are made. In turn, she works with processes of construction, fabrication, model making and gathering - routinely assessing the usefulness of found objects and materials. Balance, tension and precarity art at the heart of Thomson's work, both physically and materially. Relationships between materials and between sculptures or objects within a sculptural arrangement are created through the act of positioning. The work often seeks to find where the overlap lies between the maquette and the sculpture, the model and the object. Thomson creates objects which tend to resist categorisation and stand, sit or lean proudly in their anonymity.
